Avatar, Esperanza, and the bombshell Saturday

Recap of my great, fun-filled Saturday (2/6):

1) Finally got my loud fan laptop fixed.
It took Frys a little over 3 months to replace the stupid fan. Good thing I had warranty still. Yay for no more loaner laptop though!

2) Avatar with Deborah!
It was my first IMAX and 3D film. I have to admit that I did doze off twice during the beginning (but that is normal for me. It wasn't that the movie was boring. Deborah can attest to me trying to watch Buried Treasure twice, and falling asleep within the first 15 minutes both times. I seriously think that I have some brain abnormality.), but I loved the second half for sure! The Na'vi looked so real...the eyelashes, the hair, their movements... The motion-capture animation technique that they used was incredible! No wonder it's been nominated for so many awards.
My personal favorite scene: scientist Grace wanting to get a sample of the sacred tree seeds as she was dying! Haha, Deborah and I just laughed. Oh scientists... They kinda look like a glowing hybrid of Clione, jellyfish, and dandelion seeds.
Whoa! The Na'vi language was created by an actual Linguistics professor, and it has about 1000 words!

3) Esperanza Spalding @ Jazz Alley
At last I got to go listen to Esperanza! She was scheduled to perform last December, but got rescheduled to yesterday since she came down with the flu. It was my second time hearing her, and it was even better than the first time! I tremendously love her music so much that my alarm clock wakes me up with her music every morning! Her unique music doesn't fit under a particular genre of music. As she spoke last night during the beginning portion of the show, her music is more than just jazz. It's a fusion of jazz, latin, neo-soul, pop, blues, ... you name it. Her soulful voice and spectacular bass skills makes her a remarkable, highly talented musician. Can't believe she's only 25... and she's already a professor and a highly respected musician that even performs at the White House and the Nobel Prize Ceremony! I'm also very glad that my friends who came along enjoyed her performance!

If you're interested... listen to her performance at the Newport Jazz Festival on NPR! Can't wait till a new CD comes out.

Afterwards, my friends took me to Zig Zag right behind Pike Place Market. Such a fun atmosphere and the cocktails were yummy :)

P.S. Deborah asked if I had seen Victoria's Secret's new bombshell bra. I told her that I hadn't, so she took me to Victoria's Secret to have a look/touch of this bra. Right as we entered the store, a perky salesperson told us about how popular the bombshell is and that they sell out all the time. I literally gasped when I touched and held it. "So much padding" won't sum up that thing! Of course you would get 2 more cup sizes and extreme cleavage! It's like a huge chunk of foam to sit on top of your boobs. While I was being astonished by this bra, I felt bad for so many guys who get  caught in this deception... I won't buy this thing...it'll make me too sad to face the reality after taking it off.

So glad that this guy didn't google "how to propose". That would totally be a turn-off!! :P

Spring babies

(from That is All)

Tata(台湾では、おばさんってなんて言うんだろ?)、台湾・日本に行ってたくさん遊ぶからね~!
